Demonstrations in support of political prisoners in Iran in 46 cities around the world 20 June 2011

Campaign to Free Political Prisoners in Iran (CFPPI) has announ­ced 20 June 2011 as the inter­na­tio­nal day of action in sup­port poli­ti­cal pri­soners in Iran.

So far, 46 cities in dif­fe­rent coun­tries, from Canada and US to Europe, have joi­ned this glo­bal day and orga­nised a demons­tra­tion in their cities.

The Islamic govern­ment in Iran will not tole­rate any dis­sent, any voice of oppo­si­tion and any exer­ci­ses of free­dom of expres­sion. Men and women, boys and girls, stu­dents and workers have been detai­ned, tor­tu­red, raped and exe­cu­ted for merely asking for free­dom. The bru­tal crack­down of any oppo­si­tion activi­ties in Iran is a well known fact, and secret exe­cu­ti­ons in pri­son have been on the rise lately. In some pri­sons, the guards have been for­cing the inma­tes to watch the exe­cu­ti­ons. The regime in Tehran is try­ing to pro­long its exis­tence through sprea­ding fear among people.

Hundreds were arres­ted in demons­tra­ti­ons yes­ter­day, 12 June 2011, in dif­fe­rent cities of Iran. The Islamic regime will not stop until the last breath of dis­sent is defea­ted. At the same time, people in Iran will not stop until they have gai­ned free­dom to Iran.

More than ever poli­ti­cal pri­soners in Iran need sup­port. Their voice has been silence by the regime, so they need to have a voice. 20 June cam­paign is the voice of all dis­sent in Iran. 20 June cam­paign is the voice of poli­ti­cal pri­soners in Iran. Their voices will be echoed throug­hout the world on the 20th of June 2011.
